The 150 th anniversary of National Unification has been the occasion for a deeper reflection on the historiography and a historical-political and institutional changes which have marked the evolution of the Italian State.

The Quirinal Palace is the symbolic expression of a complex, which has placed the national unity in the face of harsh and testing moments of grave crisis, but also to significant moments of consolidation of the rule: built by the popes in 1583, has become in 1870 the residence of the kings of Italy since 1946 and is the seat of the Presidency of the Republic.

On the other hand, from a historical-institutional reflection from the role played by the Savoy (and spouses of the sovereign, in particular by Queen Margherita which is a dedicated section on its Library maintained at the Quirinale) and then investigate the activities of the Presidents of the Republic.
