The age of the balance, an exhibition on ancient Rome at Capitoline Museums

The Age of Balance is the third round of the series "Days of Rome", an exhibition of five years dedicated to the timeless story of Rome from the Republican to Late Antiquity. The exhibition aims to broaden understanding of a historical period - from 98 to 180 d. C., between the reigns of Trajan and Marcus Aurelius - of great artistic splendor, during which it was achieved a rare balance between social and political Rome and its provinces.

Imposing marble statues, refined works in bronze and terracotta sculptural whole cycles, home furnishings bronze and silver of the highest value style, telling the story of the era of "consensus" among the ruling class - government, senators, emperors, army - as well as between the imperial administration and the provincial elite, a phenomenon landmark for the foundation of Western culture.
